So, a little behind schedule, but hey, it's been a busy month with Christmas and all, and here it is, the first very rough edit;
It Tastes Like Copper – Alpha V0.1
Synopsis:
It’s been a few years now, a few long years since the 'short-term' defensive Mist came down to protect them from the Ghost Threat. Push Burrows and his family were just starting to get comfortable, and then the reports started coming in.
Washington State has had a Ghost Contamination Protocol Level 1 initiated state wide by the Ghost Intelligence Agency. The North American Ghost Marine Corps don’t trust them as far as they can throw them and after one of their battalions went missing in the region, the Generals have ordered an independent investigation.
As head of Mist production for the North American continent, Push is asked to tag along by his old friend Colonel Mann Michaels. He’s also asked to develop his few theories, ones of mutation and more struggle for humanity. Those on the biological reactions of humans to the protective shroud they call, the Mist. A shroud that stops the Ghost Threat wiping out those few that remain, but is now creating a whole host of other problems for them all.
Colonel Michaels, charged with protecting the Ground Zero Mist Production HQ on Manhattan Island and commander of the 105th Tactical Ghost Reactionary Unit is there when the shit really hits the fan, and he sums it up in the only way he knows.
“Shit, Push, they’re running on minimal sleep, maximum adrenaline and vast quantities of amphetamine supplements. They’re about to go to war against Ghosts and Vampires and they’re allied with a battalion of genetically altered super soldiers with no combat experience and a purpose bread 30ft tall killing machine. No one knows what the fuck is going to happen. God damn it, I need a cigar.”
I really hope you enjoy it; I’ve had a lot of fun writing it. Now, as I did with Concrete Operational, I’m going to point out a few things.
- This is the first, very rough edit, there’s bound to be mistakes and spelling errors and such, if you have a read, don’t hold them against me please!
- I’m posting this for the same reasons I did the other novel, to get general feedback, anything you want to say, put it in the comments section.
- I’m going back to do a full revision of Concrete Operational now, and will come back to this in due course, probably around August or September if everything else goes to plan.
- I want to turn it into a screenplay eventually, so let me know if you feel it would work as a movie.
- This is the product of National Novel Writing Month. I actually wrote the first 50k words in the 30 days. I wrote the remaining 15k in the 2 weeks that followed, then it was Christmas, so I’ve done a rough edit and put it on here.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look, like I said, I really hope you enjoy it. Please Digg this article if you have an account.
